Spinning the vinyl

It's not that I have a lot to say, but it's been 5 months since I updated this journal, so here it is...

Apartment

I bought an apartment. Actually, it will be completely mine when I'm old and gray, but that's the way it is. Until then, I'll own a loan ;)
Still haven't moved in, because the building isn't completely finished, but I should be moving during the winter. Can't wait! My girlfriend already picked the tiles for the bathroom and kitchen, now we should be scanning the furniture stores :D

Donating blood

Today was my 50th time. Feels good. Most of you reading this are young and healthy - go and do it. There's no reason to be afraid, and you're saving lives by doing it.

Mogwai LP

The postman came by today and brought the new album and EP by Mogwai. It's called "The Hawk Is Howling" and EP is "BatCat". Now I'm watching the vinyl spin and I'm happy. So are my loudspeakers :D

DD

I suggested a few photos to gallery directors for a Daily Deviation over the last couple of months. And this was the first to get accepted:
Others by fotouczniak

Well, I think it deserved it, and I hope that this is just a start for fotouczniak. A very small gallery with only 3 photos, but they're top class.

Do you suggest DD's?

A photo trip

I planned a short outing tomorrow - I took a day off work, planned to go to Lonjsko polje like I did last year, but it looks like weather won't be on my side... :(

Analogue days are back, baby!

Yes, I just went through the first roll of b/w film in my life 2 hours a go! And then I unloaded it, and in complete darkness put in a roll of infrared film :D Hopefully the weather will be OK and I'll be able to make a few shots with it :fingerscrossed:
If you don't see any results in the next month or so, it will mean that it was a complete disaster so don't ever mention it! ;)

Bored......

A very VERY boring time for me. Not making any photos, not doing anything exciting... Just thinking about finding an apartment I can afford. Sux.
I just saw I had 8000 pageviews. That's cool. Thanks :D

Selling some stuff

I just had my Sony DSC-F717 fixed - the CCD needed to be replaced. A well known error on this and many many other models by Sony and other manufacturers that use their sensors. I noticed that it wasn't working when I picked it up to sell it. It's a good thing that Sony is aware of this problem and fixes it for free, so it cost me nothing, and if you buy it from me, you don't have to worry that you'll have that problem!
I used it exclusively for infrared photography, so I can throw in the filters you need for that if you're interested. I converted a Canon G2 for IR, so I don't use this camera any more.
I'd try selling through eBay, but we cannot receive money through PayPal here in Croatia, and I'm not really into bank transfers, so I'm doing it this way. If any of you are interested, please send me a note and let's see what can be done. If you'd like to trade - I am looking for a Canon EX flash, a decent prime, maybe a film body that takes Canon EF lenses etc. If you'd like to buy - check the completed auctions on eBay to see how the prices are going, and make an offer.

Here's a few photos taken with it:

Making photos

I have a plan to go out this evening to FINALLY shoot something, so I hope I'll have something new for the gallery. I can't believe so much time has passed since I took my camera out for a walk...

I am a "little" bit unsure if it's ok to make a selfcentered journal like this, but...

.... We'll be back after this commercial break....   :D

The thing is, over the last few weeks I had some print requests, and yesterday I decided to answer some of them by submitting larger versions and enabling prints for

A Minute. A Century.
Wetfeet Creek
Suavidad
Shallowness blues
Swirling daisies

If it goes well, I might submit more. I don't think I am going to make a living out of it or get rich, but it would be nice if the money from prints could buy me a subscription or allow me to donate it to someone else, or maybe I could get prints from other deviant artists for free? I don't think it could ever be enough for completely supporting a hobby as expensive as photography can be, but to buy a filter or a memory card... Why not?

So, basically, I would like to know your experiences with dA print service, and of course - if you like what you see, and want it on your wall... now you know how to get it! :D
A suggestion for any other photo you think might make a good print is very welcome too!

Every now and then I pick up a book from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. I just finished reading one of them a few days ago. The way that guy writes is just hilarious! I can't remember any other author that is able to make me laugh out loud with his books. Visit your local book store or a library and pick one. It doesn't matter which, they're all good. :D

And an interesting video I stumbled upon recently: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BWBn…

thank you Voracious-Vixen for suggesting, your support has always meant a lot to me. all the best to you, Paula!
and thanks to Photosbykev for featuring. I'm sure he gets tons of suggestions, and being picked among them is a recognition that means a whole lot to me. :thanks:

now my inbox is filled with messages and comments, I will try to answer them, but there's life outside dA (even now I shouldn't be doing this, I'm at work after all ;)), so if you're reading this, know that I am very thankful for your comments, critique and suggestions that help me become a better photographer. THANK YOU!!!
